10 Feb 2024
SASA Polyester has stated that Purified Terephthalic Acid and fiber facilities will be put into service in both the middle and last months of this year.

SASA Polyester, which is based in Kahramanmaraş and operating in Adana, two of the cities affected by earthquakes, will launch one of the most important industrial facilities of Turkey in recent years, including the production of Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA), the raw material of fiber and polyester, with the investments made within Erdemoğlu Holding.

İbrahim Erdemoğlu, Erdemoğlu Holding Chairman of the Board of Directors, said that they temporarily closed the DMT facility for 3 months as a precaution as they considered it risky after the earthquake.

Expressing that there were 1-2 month delays in other investments, Erdemoğlu stated that, however, as a result of working with heart and soul, that gap was also closed.

Two new facilities

Highlighting that they continue their plans as they are, Erdemoğlu said: "We have never did anything like postponing our plans regarding the earthquake. Our PTA (Purified Terephthalic Acid) facility with annually 1 million 750 thousand-ton capacity, whose investment continues at the fastest pace, will be in operation in the 6th month. Our friends are working with heart and soul. I can even say this: Even now, daily 9 thousand people are trying day and night to complete the assembly quickly.

In addition, we have a second additional fiber facility with a capacity of approximately 450 thousand tons. It will be operational at the end of the year. Likewise, we have a new chips facility with a capacity of 350 thousand tons, whose investment is ongoing. We plan to put it into operation at the end of this year or in the first quarter of next year. There are no flaws."
