Work is underway at SASA for the implementation of the project, which was approved by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and was decided to be supported by the "project-based state support" application, which was published in the Official Gazette on November 25.
SASA Polyester Sanayi AŞ Board Member Dr. Mehmet Şeker reminded the AA correspondent that they signed a $ 935 million license and technical service agreement with the world giant American Invista (Koch Industries) in PTA investments in August.
Stating that they have recently signed an engineering agreement with a Spanish company in order for the wheels to spin in the plant, Dr. Şeker said that the decision to support their investments with “project-based state support made them happy.
Expressing that there will be many advantages for investments within the scope of the support, including customs tax exemption, VAT exemption, VAT refund and tax reduction, Dr. Şeker continued as follows:
“SASA's 1.5 million tons / Year PTA project and 665 thousand tons / Year of polymer / chips project were granted project-based incentives. With the incentive, we will provide additional employment to 1,350 people. We will push the button around April, we are ordering the equipment. We will probably start production in the first months of 2023. Thus, SASA will produce the PTA itself, which it imports from abroad. If we calculate about a thousand dollars per ton in this regard, 1.5 billion dollars will remain in our country. We would like to thank the relevant ministers, especially our President, for their support. We need to see the state stand behind us, the support here is important for us. The monetary aspect of this work is not very important, it is very important to see the state with us, to provide convenience and to prevent us from some bureaucratic affairs… In that respect, it is very important. Such support has continued so far in Turkey always was, and it will be then. We will contribute to our country, provide employment and contribute to closing the current account deficit in consideration for this support "
