Adıyaman University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kelleş wished that the signed protocol would bring along benefits to Adıyaman University and its members.
Prof. Dr. Kelleş said, “We woke up to a very painful morning on Monday, February 6th. We experienced and still experience the sadness of losing thousands of people as a result of the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, which were one of the biggest disasters in our history. The collapse of many public buildings and thousands of houses is a clear indication of the enormous destruction caused by this disaster in our city. The extent of the destruction in our university has culminated, many of our buildings, including our rectorate building and lodgements, have become unusable, and various grievances have taken place. Today, we will have solved an important problem of our University regarding accommodation, with the protocol signed between our University and Ali Erdemoğlu, Merinos A.Ş. the Chairman of the Board of Directors. The Erdemoğlu Family, which has gained an important place with the employment opportunities they have created all across the country and their contribution to the country's economy, has also been one of the giving hands in charity work. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to each member of our philanthropic family before Ali Erdemoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Merinos A.Ş., for the important investments that make us very happy. I have full faith that we will achieve much better things for our university, our province, and our country, by working hand in hand with Merinos A.Ş., one of the banner-bearing organizations of our Turkey."
In his speech, Ali Erdemoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Merinos A.Ş., said: “The incident experienced on February 6 deeply saddened all of us. From now on, what we are to do is to do our job in the sturdiest way possible. Here, we signed the protocol for the public housing project, which comprises 56 flats for our Adıyaman University, today. With the completion of our project, the accommodation problem experienced by many academic and administrative staff of our university will be eliminated if god permits. I wish that our protocol will be beneficial to Adıyaman and Adıyaman University family, and thank our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kelleş for their hospitality.”
