SASA's colossal petrochemical project: They receive information from refineries in Europe

In this context, İbrahim Erdemoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SASA and Erdemoğlu Holding, and his accompanying delegation visited the VPR refineries in Rotterdam (Netherlands) on May 8 and the Sarroch refineries in Sardinia (Italy) on May 9, carried out scrutiny, and received information from the officials.

During the trip, Mr. İbrahim Erdemoğlu was accompanied by Mehmet Erdemoğlu, Member of the Board of Directors of SASA; Güven Kaya, Executive Member in Charge of Investments on the Board of Directors of SASA; Yusuf Ali Taştı, Project Group Manager of SASA; and İbrahim Turhan, Consultant to the Board of Directors of SASA.

The VPR refinery, which was one of the first stops of the delegation, has a daily processing capacity of 120,000 barrels of crude oil and condensate. During the program organized by Jeffrey van Geloof, CEO of the VPR company under which the refinery operates, and the technical managers of the refinery, İbrahim Erdemoğlu and the SASA executives also had the opportunity to tour the refinery and its highly advanced laboratory. The second leg of the tour, the Sarroch refinery, constitutes 20% of Italy's total crude oil processing capacity, with a daily capacity of 300,000 barrels. The Sarroch refinery has the flexibility to process all types of crude oil from the lightest product to the highest density one and can produce a wide range of products such as LPG, naphtha, aromatic hydrocarbons and BTX, gasoline, kerosene and paraffin, jet fuel, fuel oil, and diesel fuel.

Additionally, the 575 MW power plant, which operates integrated with the refinery and generates electricity from the produced petcoke and waste gases, serves by supporting renewable energy plants in Sardinia, meeting more than 40% of the island's energy needs. The delegation was hosted by Franco Balsama, the CEO of the refinery's owner entity Saras, and Carlo Guarrata, the Refinery Manager and Chief Industrial Officer, and received information as they toured the oil unloading terminals, the power plant, and the refinery site.
