SASA started to work for new fiber facility

Announcing that they have started the works to establish a new fiber facility with an annual capacity of 367,500 tons, SASA Polyester Board Member Mehmet Şeker said that the new investment will be commissioned at the same time with the 935 million dollar PTA facility they have agreed with American Invista.

SASA Polyester has rolled up its sleeves for purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and fiber investments. SASA Polyester Board Member Mehmet Şeker announced that they have started to work on building a new fiber facility with an annual capacity of 367,500 tons. Şeker said that this plant will be commissioned at the same time with the $ 935 million PTA facility that they have agreed with the American company Invista (Koch Industries).

Production starts in 2023

Stating that production in PTA and fiber facilities will start in 2023, Şeker gave the following information: "SASA's production of 1.4 million tons will reach 3 million tons with PTA production and 3.5 million tons with this final fiber production. Therefore, it will be a facility that will meet the demand both Turkey and this region of Europe and North Africa as well as Russia.

We are currently employing approximately 4 thousand 250 people, and the number of employees will increase to over 6 thousand with the commissioning of two facilities. The turnover of the company will exceed 3.5 billion dollars, which is also related to raw material prices."

Next target; To produce the raw material of polyester

Explaining that SASA's next goal is to produce the raw material of polyester and for this, they expect the land in Yumurtalık to be allocated, Şeker said they will become a company that will compete with China, which meets its polyester needs from Africa to the American continent, with an investment of 12 billion dollars in the 2030s.
