FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR THE DR. CEVDET YILMAZ FOUNDATION BUILDING OF THE BINGÖL UNIVERSITY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION (BÜGEV)

VICE PRESIDENT YILMAZ: “WE ARE INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF OUR YOUTH AND OUR CITY”
Addressing the audience as the Foundation’s Honorary Chairman and a member of its Board of Trustees, Vice President Dr. Cevdet Yılmaz emphasized that the ceremony represented not only the construction of a building but also a significant investment in the future of Bingöl and its young generation. He stated that the new facility would become a center where knowledge, determination, and confidence in the future would flourish. Dr. Yılmaz also underlined that public universities can achieve greater quality and faster progress when supported by strong foundation structures.
Referring to philanthropist and businessman İbrahim Erdemoğlu, who is financing the construction of the building, Dr. Yılmaz noted that Erdemoğlu had risen from the region to achieve remarkable success and that his accomplishments were a source of pride. He said, “Mr. İbrahim embodies the principles frequently emphasized by our President—investment, employment, production, and exports. At the same time, he is a philanthropist who generously supports charitable initiatives, which makes his contributions even more valuable.”

In his speech, Vice President Dr. Cevdet Yılmaz also highlighted the Foundation’s mission and long-term objectives. He noted that BÜGEV plays a vital role in supporting students by providing scholarships, addressing accommodation needs, and encouraging academic research.
Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Çapak, thanked philanthropist businessman İbrahim Erdemoğlu for undertaking the construction of the new building. He explained that since its establishment, the Foundation has provided educational scholarships, donated faculty libraries to the university library, and supported numerous academic initiatives.
Prof. Dr. Çapak also stated that following the devastating earthquakes of February 6, the Foundation extended scholarships and essential aid to students in the affected regions. In addition, it has organized iftar meals for students during the month of Ramadan, reinforcing its role as a significant source of social and educational support.
He added that the new Foundation building would host seminars and events on topics such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and moral values, enabling the Foundation to provide broader opportunities for the youth of Bingöl. He concluded by inviting business leaders from Bingöl to support the Foundation and thanked Vice President Dr. Cevdet Yılmaz and philanthropist İbrahim Erdemoğlu for their contributions, describing the project as a significant investment in the future of Bingöl University and the region’s young people.
RECTOR PROF. DR. ÇELİK: “THIS BUILDING WILL BE A HUB OF KNOWLEDGE, INNOVATION, AND COLLABORATION”
Delivering a welcoming speech at the groundbreaking ceremony, the Rector of Bingöl University, Prof. Dr. Erdal Çelik, stated that the building would be much more than a physical structure; it would serve as a center for knowledge, innovation, and collaboration. He emphasized that the support students receive there would help them become well-equipped, visionary individuals. He added that the facility would inspire young people and provide an environment where they could realize their ambitions.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the BÜGEV service building was attended by Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye and Honorary Chairman of the Foundation Dr. Cevdet Yılmaz; Governor of Bingöl Ahmet Hamdi Usta; Members of Parliament Feyzi Berdibek and Zeki Korkutata; Mayor of Bingöl Erdal Arıkan; Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors Prof. Dr. İbrahim Çapak; Rector of Bingöl University Prof. Dr. Erdal Çelik; businessman İbrahim Erdemoğlu; President of the Bingöl Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kadir Çıntay; along with numerous academics and citizens.
